The people behind Within Range

Susan Ganz founded Within Range from a very personal place. Through her career in healthcare, including her work with City of Hope, and through seeing cancer touch her own family, she has seen how deeply a diagnosis affects everyone around it, especially children.

Within Range brings together Susan’s experience, her love of connecting people, and her belief that time outdoors can create space for confidence, joy and resilience. She is especially passionate about giving kids a chance to step away from the worry for a while, try something new, and simply be kids.

And if they happen to out-fish the adults along the way, even better.

Alex Henderson brings a lifelong passion for fly fishing and a professional commitment to cancer care to his role on the Board of Directors for Within Range. Raised in Utah, Alex discovered fly fishing as a teenager and has spent years exploring rivers across the West, including time as a guide on Alaska’s Kenai River. Today, some of his greatest enjoyment comes from sharing the outdoors with his wife and three young daughters, creating lasting memories on the water.

Professionally, Alex works in oncology administration at City of Hope, where he supports programs that serve patients and families facing cancer. He holds degrees from Weber State University and Rush University and is honored to support Within Range’s mission of helping children with parents battling cancer find healing, confidence, and hope through fly fishing and time in the outdoors.

Diana Silva joins the Board of Directors for Within Range with firsthand experience of what a cancer diagnosis asks of a family. When a family member was diagnosed with cancer, Diana served as his caretaker, an experience that deepened her commitment to supporting families through crisis.

Diana is VP of Operations at FreightTrain, a healthcare construction technology SaaS company, where she oversees client success, sales support, and operations. Diana is passionate about giving back and making a meaningful impact in people's lives, and she is proud to support Within Range's mission to help children whose parents are battling cancer find healing, confidence, and hope through the outdoors.

Within Range brings together Deborah’s experience, her desire to enable teens to find achievement and joy, and her belief that time spent fishing outdoors is both cleansing and rewarding. Deborah trained as a Financial Economist, pursuing her advanced degrees while balancing family, friends, and personal fulfillment. Her career has focused on healthcare and public infrastructure development in urban areas in Texas and California.

Having lost her mother to cancer as a teenager, Deborah supported her single mother and family throughout her mother's treatment. During this challenging period, she relied on independence, confidence, and resilience to maintain her footing. Today, she is dedicated to connecting teens experiencing difficult family situations with the outdoors, driven by a firm belief that joy is always within range in nature.
